Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Fall 2013

These amazing photo-matched Patrick Roy Lefebvre game-worn goalie pads from the 1988-89 season, including the Stanley Cup finals against Calgary, feature the Hall-of-Famer's horsehair inner padding from his 1986 Stanley Cup pads! The very fine, light-brown horsehair stuffing salvaged shows in holes worn through the white felt padding on the inside of these pads handcrafted for Roy by goalie equipment guru Michel Lefebvre. The two lines of hand-stitched black thread repairs on the inside edge of both pads offer a match to Roy wearing these pads during the 1988-89 season, as does the line of thick white stitching along the back portion of the blue canvas material on the outside edge of the left pad. That match also shows clearly in a shot of Patrick wearing these pads during the 1989 Stanley Cup finals against Calgary, which also is matched to the wear pattern of the Lefebvre lettering on the adjacent red canvas patch which is now torn away from its stitching along the right side. The "L" for Lefebvre logo patch is sewn on the top of both pads and Lefebvre's company stamp is at the top of the side of each pad. Part of the proceeds of the sale of this item will go towards the "Fond d'etudes des Remparts de Quebec". Historic pads worn by Patrick Roy during the 1988-89 season and the 1989 Stanley Cup playoffs and final come with his signed LOA. Absolutely fantastic game wear throughout with loads of scuffs and marks on the outer leather padding. Original leather straps and a small nick near the inside edge of the top vertical knee pad on the left pad.
