Classic Auctions is pleased to have been selected by the Russian Ice hockey Federation to offer at auction a complete set of jerseys worn by the young phenoms during the 2012 World Junior Ice Hockey Championships held in Alberta over this past holiday season. Each jersey will be accompanied by a letter of authenticity signed by the President of the Russian Ice Hockey Federation, Hall-of-Fame goaltender Vladislav Tretiak.
This red Team Russia uniform was worn by exciting Team Russia team captain and Traktor forward Yevgeni Kuznetsov during the 2012 World Junior Championships. The jersey was worn on December 29th, 2011 at the Saddledome in Calgary, Alberta, Canada as the Russians defeated Team Latvia by a score of 14-0 in the preliminary round. Yevgeni was a thrill to watch throughout the Latvian game and stepped up to the plate after Grigorenko left the game with a leg injury. Kuznetsov scored three goals and added another six assists for an incredible nine-point game. Heading into the Gold Medal match, Yevgeni led the tournament in scoring with 13 points over 6 games. Selected in the first round of the 2010 draft by Washington, watch for Kuznetsov to soon add scoring alongside countryman Alex Ovechkin. Manufactured by Nike, the number 25 air-knit jersey is a size 56 and features an IIHF patch on the lower rear hem and Nike's inventory barcode label screened inside. Game wear on this one includes glue residue and some material pulls up near the captain's "C", a great board burn on the right sleeve and a pair of marks up beside the team crest.
