Amazing piece of boxing history is this wood door from Muhammad Ali's training camp which displays an example of The Greatest's original handwritten poetry! The door and the wood plank that accompanies it were removed from Ali's famous training camp in Deer Lake, Pennsylvania. The three-time heavyweight champion of the world once owned the camp, which he used as his home base in preparing for his bouts from the late 1960s through the early 1980s. "Bub", "All the wealth in the world cannot buy a friend;" "Or pay for the loss of one!!!" "Ali" is written in blue ballpoint, front and center in the middle of this plain wood door with four windows along the top. This piece of poetry from the man who gave us, "Float like a butterfly, sting like a bee!" is attributed to Ali, according to documentation that accompanies these two items from Guernsey's, the renowned auction house that handled their original sale in 2003. The heavy wood door is 1 5/8" thick, its locking doorknob still attached, and measures 79 1/2" x 35 5/8" with felt strips attached along the top edge. "Vitamins" is painted in yellow below the windows across the top of the plain wood side of the door which is covered with countless phone numbers and various other notations in a variety of ballpoint ink colors, markers and pencil. Ali's handwritten notes, including daily training details recorded for an unknown bout, cover the 3/4"-thick plank which measures 75 5/8" x 7 1/2" and has 9 screws protruding. Please note that special shipping arrangements will be necessary for this one-of-a-kind Muhammad Ali memorabilia. These items might be subject to a silent reserve.
