Historical Hockey Memorabilia Winter 2012
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 2/22/2012
Stunningly detailed pair of Vancouver-area hockey team photos from the 1920s are offered here. These two vintage photos depict two different poses of the same team gathered around their unidentified championship trophy on the ice of an indoor arena, with magnificent detail of the interior of the structure in the background of both shots. The players’ full uniforms and equipment appear in vivid detail. These original prints are virtually the same size, one is 6” x 9 1/2", the other 6 1/4" x 9 5/8”, with “Roddy Watt” handwritten on the back of both, presumably the player who has a small “x” marked on the front of each shot, along with “Chilliwack Arena”. At well over 80 years, these fascinating team photos exhibit handling that includes creases, marks and tears on the edges. Both prints remain great framing opportunities despite these flaws which do not diminish their historical value.
