Historical Hockey Memorabilia Winter 2012
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 2/22/2012
Intriguing relic here calls out for a historian’s additional research and pictures a group of champion hockey players, winners of the “Cruise Hockey Trophy,” one that very much resembles that pictured with the original winners of the Stanley Cup in 1893, the Montreal A.A.A. and awarded for the A.H.A of Canada championship. It looks like “G B” appears in front of “A.A.A. Hockey Team” on this matte-finish postcard, with “Season 1905-06” and “Pub. For McNeils Book Store” also included. It was sent in 1909 to a young man at St. Francis Xavier College in Antigonish, Nova Scotia and is in EX condition with no unsightly flaws. A fine look at striped uniforms of the day and oh, that trophy!
