Longtime Black Hawks owner and Hockey Hall of Fame "builder" Arthur Wirtz is depicted in this sensational framed artwork. An image of the old Chicago Stadium sits in the foreground of this original portrait of Wirtz painted by the late Carleton McDiarmid. The renowned sports artist was commissioned in the 1980s to paint images for Hall of Fame card and postcard sets produced by the Cartophilium company. Wirtz, whose son Bill followed him into the Hall of Fame, helped restore the Black Hawks to glory by with his contributions to the 1961 Stanley Cup champions led by fellow HOFers Bobby Hull, Glenn Hall, Pierre Pilote and Stan Mikita. Painted on 15x20 illustration board and signed "Mac" by the artist, this splendid Arthur Wirtz portrait is beautifully presented in a 21” x 16 1/2” frame.
