Historical Hockey Memorabilia Winter 2012
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 2/22/2012
Pursuers of food issues and premiums will be ultra-intrigued by this group of five posters, part of a promotion by General Mills in 1966-67. Even the most advanced collectors and experts in the field, including author Bobby Burrell (Vintage Hockey Collector), have never seen this variation of the approximately 16” by 20” posters, produced on a grainy, almost canvas-like material. Speculation is that they may be some type of one-of-a-kind prototypes, test issues or salesman samples. These were originally obtained from a gentleman in England. The Howe, Mahovlich, Richard and Pulford posters are autographed by each respective Hall-of-Famer, with snapshots from the signings included. Other than barely noticeable pinholes and tape stains at the corners, they’re in marvelous condition, with an unsigned Rousseau poster also included. This lot may be subject to a silent reserve.
