Historical Hockey Memorabilia Winter 2012
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 2/22/2012
The little treasures offered by Imperial Tobacco over 100 years ago and which enabled hockey enthusiasts to put a picture with a name, started a tradition of pack-opening that continues today as hockey followers chase their favorite stars. Oh, and what a lineup did the C56 set of 1910-11 feature! "Good" or perhaps the odd G-VG is as good as it gets with this group, with rookie cards of Art Ross (#8) and Didier Pitre among the most attractive and joined by 2-Percy Lesueur, 24-Poulin and 27-Lake. Legends pictured in their Renfrew turtleneck sweaters are Cyclone Taylor (P with multiple creases), Lester Patrick (F) and Newsy Lalonde (P-F). All are considered rookie cards and are accompanied by a combination of P, F and P-F cards. All except two though, (with numbers penciled on the back), have problem-free backs without any paper loss, with creases, corner/edge wear and intermittent soiling the grade-lowering flaws. Needed to complete the ensemble are 1-Frank Patrick and 12-Art Ross.
