All-Star left winger Kevin Stevens was among the NHL stars who had to find ways to keep busy in the fall of 1994 when the league’s players were locked out. Kevin wore this black mesh #25 NHL Stars jersey for a charity game played in Providence, Rhode Island in December. The following notation screened inside the back of the jersey pretty much tells the story: “Due to the lockout of the 1994-95 NHL season this charity game was played at Providence College’s Schneider Arena Saturday Dec. 17, 1994 for the benefit of the Providence Journal Santa Fund and Rhode Island Sports Council.” Numbers are sewn-on white and red double twill and nameplate letters are white twill applied to heat screened red vinyl on a black nameplate. The alternate captain’s A is the same material applied directly to the left breast. A black slash mark on the “5” on the back of the jersey is the best evidence of wear on this special single-used gamer worn by the Pittsburgh Penguins’ two-time 50-goal scorer.
