Historical Hockey Memorabilia Winter 2012

Classic Canadiens styling dates back to the mid-1980s and was worn by the competitive Claude Lemieux. Lemieux saw game action in over 1,200 NHL matches, including parts of 7 seasons while in the uniform of the Montreal Canadiens. A faded Maska Ultrafil tag remains in the collar and this spectacular jersey has been custom shortened for Lemieux, with the hem being taken up by more than two inches, thus making the red, red, blue patterned CCM on the back hem no longer visible from the outside. The game wear on this sweater is solid and consists of stick and slash marks, board burns, plenty of board paint transfer from the old Montreal Forum, unrepaired burn holes, fine inner pilling and 15 team-sewn repairs including about 5 on each sleeve. A fine looking vintage sweater from the early part of Lemieux's career. The shirt is conclusively photo-matched to a red mark appearing just above the "3" on the right arm. A high-resolution digital image of the photo used to make the match will accompany the lot.
