Brilliant blue knit worn by 500-goal-club member and HOFer Mike Bossy late in his career while with the Islanders. Mike posted a respectable 75-point performance in 1986-87, the season in which this blue New York uniform was worn. Maska Ultrafil tagging in the collar has "22" and "C" handwritten on the label with a born-on tag marked "86 04" (April 1986). Game wear includes a small hole and numerous marks on the right sleeve, marks on left arm, numerous stick marks on lower front of jersey and team crest and addition marks on back of jersey to add to some red board paint transfer. The plate on the back appears original to the shirt but we do see an outline of stitching that runs through the plate and also through the back of the shirt, perhaps it had been sewed incorrectly and it re-stitched along the bottom and one side. Bossy served as a replacement captain briefly during the 1986-87 season. We have obtained two action photos from January 1, 1987 vs. the Habs that show Mike wearing the captain's letter. A great shirt from Bossy's swansong. [red] Addendum; We have received new information that confirm that this Mike Bossy jersey would have been worn for 3 or 4 games during mid to late March of 1987, Mike Bossy served as a replacement captain to Denis Potvin who got hurt in the February 22nd 1987 game. There is much evidence to confirm the fact that the star players on the 1986-87 Islanders wore 2 to 3 different sets of jerseys during the season not including the playoffs and the offered jersey with this type of numbers on the sleeves and the Captain “C”, would have been worn around mid to late March of 1987.
