Historical Hockey Memorabilia Winter 2012

This darling Baltimore Blades durene was worn during the 1974-75 season during World Hockey Association play. The style has "Baltimore" cascading down the front in orange on white with a two-tone tackle twill number 12" on the back. The red Rawlings label is the in the tail in size 46. Research shows that the team's white uniforms were made by Rawlings only about four have made it into the hobby. All of the black versions that have been identified to date are made by General Athletic and again, only 4 are know to exist, with this shirt being a fifth. It is believed that Rawlings, having produced the whites for the WHA era, would have also made a black set and this one is the second jersey that has surfaced to date. The style and number was first worn in 1973-1974 by the Baltimore Clippers of the AHL and then recycled for use by the WHA Baltimore Blades in 1974-75. Great game wear on this one with at least a dozen repair patches on the front to fix some material runs and about 15 more on the back including stitch work where a nameplate once rested. Four more team repairs show up on the arms and we spot some stick slashes and extensive interior pilling. A rare old style to be sure!
