Attractive 10K gold creation brings forth the story of Canada's withdrawal from the 1970 World Hockey Championships, originally slated to be held in Montreal and Winnipeg. After the IIHF agreed to allow Canada to use nine professionals at the 1970 Worlds, it changed its mind following Canada's second place finish with five pros on its roster at the 1969 Izvestia Tournament. Canada then waived its right to host the '70 tourney, which was moved to Stockholm, Sweden. "World Hockey - Canada" encircles a big red stone here, with "1970" below a World Championships logo on one shank and a Canadian coat of arms on the other. Although not marked, the ring is indeed in 10K gold and size 8-1/2. Light to moderate wear to mention, with light scratches and a couple of nicks in the stone.
