Historical Hockey Memorabilia Winter 2012
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 2/22/2012
Fantastic framed set of original ticket stubs for the September 4, 1972 game held at Maple Leaf Gardens in Toronto. The two teams that took to the ice that night were littered with talent as Team Canada faced the Russians in the second match of the famous Summit Series. The tickets, for seats 1 and 2 in section 46, were witness to hockey history as Canada redeemed themselves nicely with a 4-1 win following a loss in Montreal in the opener, thanks largely to a couple of brother acts (read Esposito and Mahovlich) and a radically different game plan. The stubs are in excellent condition, free of creasing, matted and framed under glass. Originally Obtained from the wife of legendary broadcaster and HOF-member Foster Hewitt, complete with a plaque awarded to Hewitt by the Canadian Rehabilitation Council in 1966 for his dedicated service to crippled children.
