Historical Hockey Memorabilia Winter 2012
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 2/22/2012
Incredible and massively dense and heavy Russian hockey award was presented posthumously to the family of Anatoli Tarasov, the father of Soviet ice hockey who passed away in 1995. According to the information we have received, only 15 to 20 of these fascinating and scarce awards were handed out in 1996 on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the founding of Russian ice hockey. This fantastically substantial trophy stands 15" tall overall and features an amazing bronze sculpture of a hockey player atop a base that is a solid block of granite. The statue stands 11" tall, including a round base that translates to read: "50 Years of Russian Hockey". A gold plaque translated from Russian reads: "Anatoli Vladimirovich Tarasov, the best coach of the country" with the initials FHR representing the Russian Ice Hockey Federation. Comes with an LOA from the Tarasov family.
