Forward Jozef Voskar played two of Team Slovakia’s round robin during the 1996 World Cup of Hockey. Voskar wore this #19 jersey with size 56 tagging in the neck during pre-tournament exhibition play. The red twill surname letters were reglued onto the nameplate by the team’s equipment staff and are not sewn on. Game wear shows in black marks on the right front tail and marks on both sleeves.
Team Slovakia – 1996 World Cup of Hockey
Already in tough among the powerhouses of the international hockey world, Team Slovakia had to face the challenge of competing in the North American pool at the 1996 World Cup of Hockey. The task proved too much for Slovakia, which dropped each of its three games against Canada, Russia and the United States, who went on to win the inaugural edition of the tournament.
Peter Bondra and Robert Svehla proved to be the bright lights on a team that included fellow NHLers Zdeno Ciger, Miroslav Satan, Lubomir Visnovsky, Jozef Stumpel, Richard Zednik and the late Pavol Demitra in a lineup bolstered by European professionals.
Offered here are the blue Slovakia jerseys by Nike from the 1996 World Cup of Hockey. Slovakia wore their white jerseys for all three round robin games so these blue jerseys only saw duty in pre-tournament exhibition games. Each of these classic international hockey jerseys has Nike Team Sports size labels sewn in the neck and a Nike inventory barcode heat-screened into the inner rear tail. The white graphic Nike logo sits on the right breast with bigger ones on both shoulders and the Slovakia Ice Hockey Federation logo is screened on the right shoulder. An ascending “Slovensko” twill patch is sewn on the front along with the national crest in screened twill on the left side. The 1996 World Cup of Hockey patch sits on the left shoulder. The numbers on the sleeves and back, and surname letters on a nameplate stitched on the back are all sewn on in tackle twill. Each jersey will come complete with a letter of authenticity from the NHLPA.
