Historical Hockey Memorabilia Winter 2012

These quintuplets aren't identical but there's no mistaking the family resemblance - they're all Victorian and Edwardian era skates. One pair resembles wooden flip-flops until the tell-tale blade becomes visible. Their flat-topped platforms are attached to 12" blades with velvet-covered rope. A pair of 16 1/4" long steel blades stamped "Raymond Skate Co. Boston, Mass." are set in wood with two mounting platforms screwed into the top, one marked "F2/5". Sleigh-style runners curling back onto boots would be perfect with jingle bells, although none came with these charmers. Modern looking duos feature black "McPherson's Lightning" boots perched on shiny, like new "Eduard Engels Remscheid" blades. Completing this lot is a pair of "Winchester American Club" marked "10" featuring smart looking, high-top brown leather boots stitched with a decorative diagonal pattern.
