The premature death of goaltending legend Terry Sawchuk quickly raised him to a cult hero status among collectors. This, along with the argument by many that Sawchuk was the best goaltender of his era, sets his memorabilia apart from the rest. Offered is Terry's ancient set of game-worn CCM Tackaberry Prolite boots, in heavy leather, matched to chromed steel CCM size 11.5 blades. This pair, circa the late 1950's to early 1960's, are a size 10 1/2 boot. The well-worn items show scuffing and wear but have not been abused. Aged white tape wraps around two sections of each blade and the solid leather toe caps are heavily-scuffed but not worn through. Incredibly, these skates come with a notarized letter of authenticity from famed trainer Lefty Wilson, the man credited with fabricating Sawchuk's fiberglass goalie masks. The letter reads, in part. "I hereby acknowledge to the best of my ability that these items were in fact owned by the Red Wing Hockey team during the era of the early 60's and were worn by Terry Sawchuk at one point or time during his Red Wing Career". It is signed "Lefty Wilson, former trainer, Detroit Red Wing Hockey Club". Simply amazing!
