Historical Hockey Memorabilia Winter 2012
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 2/22/2012
Absolutely stunning is this original matte-finish photograph that captures the very first Montreal Maroons hockey club. Pictured in the seldom-seen uniforms with "Montreal" across the front instead of the more familiar "M", the team includes a pair of famous Hall-of-Famers standing side by side in the middle of the back row. Clint Benedict, one of the great goaltenders of all-time is sporting a black cap and to his right is Harry "Punch" Broadbent who, like Benedict, played on four Stanley Cup winners. Broadbent is also the man who owns the NHL record for scoring in 16 consecutive games. Other names hockey historians will likely recognize are Reg Noble, Sammy Rothschild, Dunc Munro and "Dinny" Dinsmore.
