Few people drink from the Stanley Cup, so imbibe from cups owned by hands that won a combined seven Stanley Cups. Gerry McNeil's shutout, and allowing only five goals in his first five games after being called up to play for the Canadiens in March, 1950 earned him Player of the Week honours, this mug and letter of congratulations. Teammate Ken Mosdell was a shutdown, defensive specialist for the Habs. The lanky forward was always out on the penalty kill and against the opposition's top line. His perseverance earned him Player of the Week honours Nov. 17, 1951, as the mug will attest. See web for full details. This lot includes: letter of congratulations from The F. & M. Schaefer Brewing Co. to Gerry McNeil for being honoured as Player oft he Week by The Hockey News, March 18, 1950; one mug - 4 1/4" diameter at base, 5 1/4" high, 3 3/8" across top opening, engraved "Schaefer AWARD PLAYER-OF-THE-WEEK NATIONAL HOCKEY LEAGUE GERRY McNEIL 3-12-50," markings on bottom - Britannia metal, Dunhill, Made in England; one mug - 4" diameter at base, 4 3/8" high, 3 1/8" across top opening, see through bottom, engraved on front "O'Keefe's Player of the Week Ken Mosdell, Nov. 17/51"
