Jacques Plante and the Canadiens were in the midst of setting a seemingly unbreakable record of five consecutive Stanley Cup championships when they came to agreement on Plante's contract for the 1957-58 campaign. It was signed May 27, 1957 and called for a salary of $12,500! Bonus clauses included $1,000 for a first place finish and $500 for winning the first round of the playoffs, both of which Plante was able to collect on. Intriguing that there would be no Vezina Trophy or All-Star Team clause?! This double-sided, one-page document features a nice flowing Plante ballpoint signature on the back, below that of Hall of Fame "builder" William Northey (d.1963), while league president Clarence Campbell (d.1984) signed the front in bold fountain pen. From a glorious time in Canadiens history!
