It's all about winning the Stanley Cup and the Montreal Canadiens have done it more often than any other team. The Rocket is pictured with the Cup in three wire photos featured in this lot of 64 vintage Habs press photos, most from the 1950s and 1960s, featuring the likes of Beliveau, Plante and Lord Stanley's silver chalice! Beliveau, who is pictured alongside Richard in two of the Cup shots, is also featured in eight other vintage photos while Plante is the focus of seven others. Vintage photos of Harvey, Geoffrion and Henri Richard are also included here, among others. Please see our website description for more information about this lot of classic Habs photos. A pair of March 17, 1955 wire photos of Maurice Richard are featured along with a shot of NHL president Clarence Campbell among six newspaper morgue prints from a Richard riot file;
Three 1966 Henri Richard shots include a pair of his controversial overtime goal and another with his arms draped around the Cup;
One of 10 Canadiens Cup celebration photos features a shot of Beliveau holding the Cup aloft for the last time in an 11” x 8 ½” print with a horizontal tear across the bottom part stamped “Chicago Sun-Times May 19, 1971” on the reverse which has a caption pasted to it crediting the shot to Sun-Times photographer Bob Langer.
