On December 31st, 1975, the Montreal Canadiens hosted the visiting Russian Red Army team in what would be called "The Greatest Game Ever Played." A battle of end-to-end rushes and amazing goaltending by both Tretiak and Dryden ensued. On this night there would be no victor as the teams skated to a 3-3 draw in front of a mesmerized crowd at the Forum. This memento from that night, obtained by Habs Hall-of-Famer Jacques Lemaire immediately following the famous match, is a game used stick decorated with 15 autographs from the Russian squad. Some of the signatures we recognize include goaltending great Vladislav Tretiak, Zhlutktov #22, Vladimir Petrov #16, Gennadi Tsygankov #7, Victor Kuzkin #4 and Alexander Gusev #2. Most sigs are bold and stand out but two or three were done in a blue ink which had faded over time. Complete with a letter of provenance signed by Jacques Lemaire.
