Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction November 2010
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 11/16/2010
The Bambino himself, Babe Ruth, autographed this golf scorecard dated "July 4, 1936". The Sultan of Swat's pencil signature has been authenticated and certified as genuine by PSA/DNA Authentication Services. Babe's distinctive penmanship appears above the date, which is handwritten in blue ink, on the blank scorecard. This magnificent Babe Ruth signature comes from a vintage 1930s autograph booklet which featured the autographs of major sports stars of the day. The Fourth of July autograph was obtained a little over a year after the Babe retired shortly after hitting his 714th and final home run as a member of the Boston Braves at Pittsburgh's Forbes Field on May 25, 1935. "Golf and Country Club, Ltd., Ashburn" is partially visible on the reverse of the golf scorecard which the baseball icon signed on that date in Lethbridge, Alberta. The blue-colored autograph page remains glued to the reverse. This authenticated Babe Ruth autograph comes with a PSA/DNA letter of authenticity.
