Derek Roy wore this Buffalo throwback jersey and retro-style Reebok pants shell as the Sabres hosted the inaugural edition of the Winter Classic on January 1, 2008. Both items saw active during the historic outdoor game between the Sabres and Pittsburgh Penguins in front of 71,271 at Buffalo's Ralph Wilson Stadium on January 1, 2008. Roy wore this white #9 gamer during the second period, which saw Buffalo tie it at 1 on an early goal by Brian Campbell before Penguins captain Sidney Crosby scored his storybook shootout winner. "Winter Classic 2008" patch is sewn on the right breast of this tie-neck retro beauty which features the Sabres original team crest and colors. CCM size 52 "Made in Canada" Canadian flag fly tag remains in the neck, and the Reebok tag sewn into the inside left seam and the fight strap are intact. A MeiGray NHL Game-Worn Jersey 2007-2008 patch is sewn inside the rear tail. Roy wore this Sabres throwback pants shell throughout the entire game, as well as during the Sabres' outdoor practice on New Year's Eve. A MeiGray registry patch is sewn inside the right front of the pants. As would be expected, neither of these single-use items display any notable game wear, other than light board burns on the left rear of the pants. Each piece comes with its respective NHL/MeiGray LOA. Both letters features the registry number which corresponds to the jersey and pants shell, as well as details of the game and the item's use during the inaugural Winter Classic.
