Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction November 2010
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 11/16/2010
Fantastic Brett Callighen gamer worn during the Edmonton Oilers' inaugural foray into the National Hockey League in 1979. Thin knit by Maska has the company's logo sewn onto the rear hem and their Superfil label up in the neck near a dangling size 48 tag. All numbers and cresting are sewn on while the nameplate holds screen lettering spelling out "Callighen". Best is the rare Alberta 75th patch up on the right shoulder. Seven stitched team repairs show up on the sleeves and body and loads of stick marks and board burns are here as well. This one looks to have has the plate changed, the team removed the plates and recycled this set for use in the 1980-81 preseason and many had the plates restored soon after. A great first year example!
