Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction November 2010

Dave Babych's 19-year NHL career included six seasons with the Whalers in Hartford, Connecticut. The defenseman wore this impressive heavy mesh Whalers jersey during road trips at some point in the mid-Eighties, probably 1985-86 or 1986-87 when his brother Wayne was also with the franchise. With "D. Babych" sewn directly across the back (no nameplate), the jersey shows light to medium game use with areas of blue and green paint transfer at the lower front, a few good stick marks and some spots of what appears to be washed-out blood stains. A great defunct style from a team that still retains a huge following in New England.
