Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction November 2010

Following some prolific years in Edmonton, star defenseman Paul Coffey took his high level of play to Pittsburgh prior to the 1987-88 season and helped the Penguins to their first ever Stanley Cup title in 1990-91. Paul's white knit Pens road jersey has a Maska Ultrafil tag in the collar (marked 48 in ballpoint with 77 in black marker) while a CCM patch and "Century Sports" are embroidered into the rear hem. Paul's alternates captain's "A" is up on the chest. The style, most certainly worn during the 1988-89 season but possibly a little earlier or later. Not much in the way of game use here but we do note a dozens lighter stick marks across the front with a couple more on the sleeves and five on the back. This shirt was worn by one of the swiftest, most gifted skaters ever to lace on a pair of skates, as well as a 3-time Norris trophy winner who scored 396 goals and 1531 points during his Hall of Fame career.
