Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction November 2010
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 11/16/2010
After being eliminated in the first round of the NHL playoffs, Ovechkin joined Team Russia for the 2010 IIHF World Championships along with many other Russian stars, such as Malkin, Datsyuk, and Kovalchuk. Despite being heavily favoured to win the tournament, Russia lost to the Czech Republic in the finals. This is a game-worn Alexander Ovechkin helmet, worn during the 2010 World Hockey Championships. The red CCM Vector has the "Gazprom" ad across the forehead and a smaller Russia flag decal up on each side. The number "8" appears on the back in white. Although this is the correct style worn by Alex during the Worlds, we have not yet spotted photos of him wearing the tinted visor that is attached to this example, only clear ones. Nice wear with a number of good stick marks and scratches. Will come with a letter of authenticity.
