Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction November 2010
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 11/16/2010
Ilya Kovalchuk has signed this Warrior composite gamer he used while representing Russia for the third straight Olympics at the Vancouver 2010 men's hockey tournament. Chosen first overall by Atlanta in the 2001 NHL entry draft, Kovalchuk was traded to New Jersey shortly before the Vancouver games. He scored one goal and added two assists in four games as Russia was knocked out of the competition by a 7-3 quarter-final loss to Canada. Ilya has added the #71 he wore during the Olympics to his black marker signature on his white tape job on the blade. "Team Russia" is screened onto the front of the shaft below the blue rubber gripper on the handle along with "I. Kovalchuk" on this Warrior gamer, with "IK 71" in blue and red low on the shaft. Wear along the bottom of the blade tape shows nice game use on this stick which obviously saw limited active duty. This is the correct model of stick used by Kovalchuk during the Olympics and it comes with an LOA.
