Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction November 2010
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 11/16/2010
Canada's roll of legendary goaltending performances grew once again at Vancouver 2010 when 23-year-old Shannon Szabados backstopped the Canadian women's team to its third straight Olympic gold medal. A pair of goals from 19-year-old Marie-Philip Poulin and a 28-save outing from Szabados gave Canada a 2-0 win over the United States, which claimed the first women's Olympic gold medal in 1998. Light but clear use is evident on this Vancouver 2010 Sher-Wood official game puck which saw active duty during the first period of the women's hockey gold medal game at Canada Hockey Place on February 25. Poulin scored both of her goals in the opening frame and Szabados stopped each of the 7 shots she faced in the first. Comes with COA from Vancouver Organizing Committee CEO John Furlong and Gameday Auction featuring a holofoil which corresponds to the one affixed to the puck.
