Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction November 2010
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 11/16/2010
Marvelous international hockey memento is this gold and diamond creation produced for Team Canada members who represented their country at the 1978 World Championships in Prague, Czeckoslovakia. Canada had returned to the Worlds the previous spring following a 7-year layoff, and this time came home with medals, claiming the bronze behind the Soviets and Czechs as Marcel Dionne led the charge with nine tournament goals. "Team Canada" and "Prague" encircle a silver maple leaf on the face of this size 7 ring, along with three of the four original diamonds (one has gone missing over the years). Stamped "10K" on the interior of the band, the keepsake shows considerable wear and likely was worn with pride by a non-playing staff member, since players' rings had their names inscribed on the band. The "19" and "78" year appears in raised numbers on the shanks.
