Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction November 2010
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 11/16/2010
Sweet old 70s era wooden Louisville Slugger game stick with CCCP graphics has been signed along both edges by 17 members of the Russian squad who traveled to North America for the 1975 Super Series. The games, played against NHL teams, included a stop in New York and this stick has the notations "28/12/75 MSG NY" and "Soviet Army 7, Rangers 3" on the shaft. Key signer Valery Kharlamov (HOF, d. 1981) signed in blue-green marker along with talented teammates Vasiliev, Tretiak and others. Many of those who signed also played in the historic New Years Eve game against the Canadiens a few nights later. Obtained from a Russian woman living in New York City and who got to "hang out" with several of the hockey players when they traveled to the United States.
