Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction November 2010
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 11/16/2010
Hall of Famers Gump Worsley, Andy Bathgate and Harry Howell are featured in this lot of 12 rare early 1960s New York Rangers ceramic tiles which were never offered to the public, likely because of licensing issues. A pair of Vic Hadfield tiles are also included, along with individual tiles depicting Bronco Horvath, Dave Balon, Ted Hampson, Al Langlois, Larry Cahan, Andy Hebenton, and Rangers coach Muzz Patrick. Each of the 6" x 6" tiles has the name "H.M. Cowan" on the front, likely the name of the artist, and "Screenarts Products Ltd. Made in Canada" stamped on the top of the cork backing on the reverse. All of these rare Rangers tiles retain vibrant colors except for the Worsley tile, which has muted reds and blues. Four original boxes are included here on these chip-free tiles which remain in excellent-plus condition overall, with no cracks to report.
