Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction November 2010
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 11/16/2010
The final offering in our consignor’s luscious collection of Sweet Caporal postcards, this card #43 features Eugene Payan of the Montreal Canadiens. Payan was born in St. Hyacinthe, Quebec, played center and was a member of the Canadiens from 1910-11 to 1913-14. Part of Imperial Tobacco of Canada’s 45-card "Prominent Canadian Hockey Players" series, this example has received VG-EX 4 status from the PSA company, just coming up a tad shy of the highest Payan postcard (4.5) ever graded by PSA. Another treasure giving a good view of the thick wool sweaters worn in the day, along with some killer hockey gloves.
