Yet another Hall-of-Famer appearing in Imperial Tobacco's coveted Sweet Caporal postcard set is Gordon Roberts, an Ottawa-born lad who obtained a medical degree at Montreal's McGill University while playing pro hockey with the Wanderers. Considered a strong and tireless left winger with a tremendous shot, Roberts played on a line with Odie Cleghorn and Harry Hyland and after becoming Dr. Gordon Roberts in 1916, went west to practice medicine and play in the Pacific Coast Hockey Association, setting an all-time PCHA goal-scoring record in 1916-17. As a member of the Vancouver Millionaires, Roberts pumped in 43 goals in just 23 games. Wonderful crease-free image of Roberts here, with a missing upper left corner lowering the PSA grade to Good 2. One of only three #33 Sweet Cap postcards ever to have been submitted to PSA.
