Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction November 2010
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 11/16/2010
What a riveting portrait of Hockey Hall-of-Famer Jack Marshall on this delectable treasure, produced in Britain and distributed by Imperial Tobacco of Canada, apparently in 50-count tins of Sweet Caporal cigarettes. During a 17-year career, the 5'9" Marshall switched from center to defence and has the distinction of winning the Stanley Cup with, get this, four different teams! He first did it with the Winnipeg Victorias (1901), then twice with the Montreal AAA, twice with the Montreal Wanderers including a year prior to this release, and finally as playing manager of the Toronto Blueshirts in 1913-14. Card #29 here is only one of two Marshall Sweet Caps ever submitted to PSA for grading, indicating the rarity of these finds, and displays much better than its Good 2 rating.
