Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction November 2010
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 11/16/2010
One of the stars of the pre-NHL era is offered here, with card #6 of the next-to-impossible-to-find 45-card Sweet Caporal postcard set having been graded PR 1 by PSA, most notably because of the missing upper right corner. The historic Sweet Cap set was reportedly used by the artists working on the C55 card set released the following season. Tom Dunderdale, after his lone year with the Quebec Bulldogs in 1910-11, went west to join the Patricks when the PCHA was formed. Dunderdale starred with Victoria and Portland for 12 years and scored more goals in the PCHA than any other player. In 1974 Dunderdale, posthumously, became the first Australian-born player (his family moved to Canada when he was 16) to be elected to the Hockey Hall of Fame. An early hockey hero on a true cardboard rarity.
