This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 11/16/2010
The Ali-Frazier trilogy of heavyweight bouts in the 1970s are among the most famous boxing tilts ever staged. Frazier won a unanimous decision to take their first meeting, billed “The Fight of the Century”, at Madison Square Garden on March 8, 1971. Ali took the decision in a non-title rematch at MSG in 1974, setting up the “Thrilla in Manila”, also won by Ali. Offered here is a huge framed display featuring boxing gloves signed by Ali and Frazier, respectively. Ali has signed simply “Muhammad” in black marker on a lefthanded boxing glove. “Smokin’ Joe Frazier” reads the autograph on the righthanded glove. A 20” x 16” photo of their third bout in Manila is displayed within this framed cabinet which is 7 ¼” deep and measures 26 ½” x 38 ½” overall. The Ali signed glove comes with a Steiner COA. Frazier’s signed glove comes with a COA from Superstar Greetings and a snapshot of Frazier signing the glove.
