Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction November 2010
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 11/16/2010
Hockey legend Jack Adams' signature appears twice on this remarkable framed caricature of the Detroit Red Wings' great coach and general manager. Inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame for his playing career, Adams excelled as a coach and a manager, leading the Red Wings to their first seven Stanley Cups from the mid 1930s to the mid 1950s. Adams signed in white ink across the bottom of his 8 3/4" x 4 3/4" caricature signed "Knight" by the artist. Adams also signed in black ink on the the lower right corner of the vintage matte surrounding the artwork mounted in a 10 3/4" x 8 3/4" black frame. The caricature and the matte both have some waterstain marks, with only the bottom loop of the black ink "J" touched in either signature.
