Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction November 2010
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 11/16/2010
The legendary Bill Barilko signed the vintage autograph page offered here. Barilko's clean and bold pencil signature appears on the top part of the 6 1/8" x 2 5/8" page detached from an autograph book. The ill-fated defenseman scored the Cup-clinching overtime goal for the Toronto Maple Leafs in the spring of 1951. Barilko's plane was lost as he returned from a fishing trip that summer. His body was not found until the wreckage of his crashed plane was located in 1962. Plenty of blank space surrounds Barilko's autograph, making it very suitable for framing. "Hockey player killed in a plane crash in Northern Ontario" is handwritten in ballpoint on the bottom of the page. Comes with an LOA.
