Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction November 2010
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 11/16/2010
Not one but two formidable pieces for a Lord Stanley collection with these 2" medals struck in 1902 to, like the back reads, "Commemorate The Celebration of Guild Merchant." The fronts feature the highly detailed raised images of "The Earl of Derby K.G. Guild Mayor of Preston and the Countess of Derby". Most impressive is the shiny silver coin, housed in its original two-piece cardboard box, while the bronze souvenir is still in its suave dark blue leather presentation box, with the "Spink & Son" maker's name on the interior. The Derby Coat of Arms is also on the reverse of each piece. Preserved in excellent condition and awaiting a Lord Stanley shrine.
