Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction November 2010
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 11/16/2010
Sensational vintage goalie stick was used by Emile "The Cat" Francis long before he began his long career as a coach, general manager and executive, tasks which landed him in the Hockey Hall of Fame. "Francis" is stamped on the shaft, where "Northland Professional" appears on both sides, while black tape on the paddle covers most of "Professional Goal". Nice original handle and knob tape to mention, with "-1-" added in black marker just below. Some wear to the back of the original blade tape reveals a crack but overall the lumber has survived in fabulous condition. Late-1940s style stick was used by Francis during his time with the Hawks. He was the number one man in '47-48, appearing in 54 games, after seeing action in 19 in his rookie season the previous year.
