Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction November 2010
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 11/16/2010
Great old durene Chicago Black Hawks jersey that saw action during the 1973 Stanley Cup Finals while on the back of forward Dennis Hull. Although he played under the shadow of brother Bobby for his entire career, Dennis emerged as a star in his own right, scoring over 300 goals and earning the nickname "the Silver Jet". Some commentators often wondered whether Bobby or Dennis had the harder shot. The Gunzo's River Forest and partial Wilson tags are there in the collar and remnants of the "73" year tag is still legible down in the lower hem. This one shows loads of use with numerous stick marks and slashes, about a dozen smaller holes and ten stitched team repairs. There is damage to one of the back numbers and a large greyish stain runs down the left sleeve. Two repairs on the right sleeve show up in an action photo from the 1973 Finals against Montreal and the winning bidder will receive a digital image of the shot showing the match. The jersey was recycled after 1973 by the Hawks and then later sent down to the Portland Winter Hawks, a junior farm club.
