Wonderful white durene worn by defenseman Bill White during the late 1960s while roaming the blueline for the Chicago Black Hawks. White finished his NHL career with 50 goals, 215 assists and 265 points in 604 games, with 495 penalty minutes. At the time of his retirement, even though he had played only six full seasons with the Hawks, he was in the top five of all-time Black Hawk defense scorers. The v-neck shirt is tagged in the collar by Gunzo's and down in the inner seam by General Athletic. We had a little help dating the shirt from the collar tagging. The Gunzo's "Berwyn" label would suggest that it was used during 69-70 or earlier as the Berwyn location was destroyed in a fire on June 23, 1970. The chain-stitched "tommies" are there on each shoulder and the jersey has the single layer black number "2" on the back and again on each arm. Well-laundered, the jersey does not display many marks but we spot a nice stick slash across the front and a swipe of red board paint down on the lower side and again higher up on the back. A nice example with none of the material runs we see on other shirts from the period.
