Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction November 2010
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 11/16/2010
Stan Mikita's game-used Northland stick from the early-to-mid-1970s features a dedicated signature from the Hall of Fame center on the shaft. Stan's original tape jobs are intact on the knob and blade of this wood beauty with a more subdued curve than the wild banana blade he favoured in the 1960s before it was outlawed. "Mikita" is stamped on the front of the shaft and "21" is written in red marker beneath Stan's black tape handle covered with a layer of well-worn white grip tape. "To My 'Krajan' Joe and Barbara, Moc. Stastie Vanm Praje, Stan Mikita" reads the Czech-born star's dedicated autograph on the shaft. Toe of the blade has cracks to note on this superb display piece which exhibits nice game use in the form of marks and red paint transfer. Gifted by Mikita in the 1970s to the father-in-law of our consigner who will provide a letter of provenance.
