Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction November 2010
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 11/16/2010
With the Black Hawks finally back on top of the hockey world it's only fitting that we offer a prized piece from the heyday of one of the Windy City's greatest sports icons. The Golden Jet himself - Bobby Hull - has signed his circa 1965-66 game-used Northland stick. Bobby became the first NHL player to surpass 50 goals in a season when he set a new record of 54 tallies in 1965-66 and followed that up with 52 the following season before extending his mark to 58 goals in 1968-69. "B. Hull" is stamped on the shaft with his number "9" handwritten in black marker beneath his well-worn white tape knob. Bobby's black tape job is intact on the blade with a small strand missing. "To Barb, Best Wishes, Bobby Hull" reads the dedicated autograph on the face of the shaft which has a Gunzo's stamp at the top. Minor cracks to note on the toe of the blade on this otherwise superb example of a Bobby Hull gamer when the Golden Jet was soaring along at the height of his talents. Gifted by Hull back in the 1970s to the father-in-law of our consigner who will provide a letter of provenance.
