Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction November 2010
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 11/16/2010
Fabulous early Boston Bruins treasures featured in this lot consist of a pair of framed team photo montages from the late 1920s, including the Bruins' first Stanley Cup champions of 1928-29. An "Oct 16 1930" date stamp appears on the upper right of the team photo montage featuring HOFer Lionel Hitchman in the center of the top row between Ross and Denneny, with Thompson, Weiland, Oliver and Shore among the others below on this 9" x 6 1/4" vintage team photo titled "Boston 'Bruins' World's Professional Champions, 1928-29" along the bottom. Displayed in a black and grey matte, this rare Bruins Cup champions photo with a faint diagonal crease on the upper right side and a tiny stain in the bottom left corner is mounted in a 13" x 10 1/2" black metal frame. Bruins 1926-27 team photo from the Ayer Company of Lowell, Massachusetts shows approximately 7" x 16" displayed in a two-tone gray matte mounted in a 13" x 22" frame. Vertical crease in the middle of this vintage Bruins team photo runs through the left side of HOFer Sprague Cleghorn's body in the inset photo of the Boston captain in the middle of the montage. A few creases to note on the right side of the image, otherwise photos of HOFers Ross, Oliver, Frederickson and Shore remain clean and unaffected.
