Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction November 2010
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 11/16/2010
The 1931-32 New York Rangers, with their legendary leader Lester Patrick smack dab in the middle, appear on this awesome vintage thick cardboard advertising display from the folks at the famous CCM company. The "flags" of the NHL's eight teams of the day are above the 7" by 9" photo which is applied to the sturdy piece. Ranger/ hockey historians will recognize Frank Boucher, Bill and Bun Cook and Ching Johnson, with Earl Seibert, Ott Heller, Murray Murdoch, Butch Keeling, Dutch Gainor and goalie John Ross Roach among those also included. Bill Cook led the NHL with 34 goals that season but the "National Hockey League Champions 1931-32" notation below the photo is misleading since the Blueshirts finished atop the league's American Division, but were three points back of the Canadiens in the overall standings. In VG-EX condition with a bit of paper loss by the first C in "CCM" and in the lower left of the photo which exhibits light moisture damage. Advertising "Skate & Shoe Outfits", it's a not-often-offered piece for Rangers and vintage ad fanciers to contemplate.
