Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction November 2010
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 11/16/2010
Deceased Hall of Famers Dick Irvin, Maurice "Rocket" Richard, Doug Harvey, Bernie "Boom Boom" Geoffrion and Tom Johnson are among the 19 members of the 1951-52 Montreal Canadiens whose vintage autographs appear on this magnificent CCM hockey stick. After finishing second overall with a 34-26-10 mark, the Habs were swept in the final by league leaders Detroit. Stanley Cup bridesmaids for a second straight year, Montreal was on its way to a record 10 consecutive finals appearances throughout the 1950s. Elmer Lach, Dickie Moore, Emile "Butch" Bouchard and Bert Olmstead also signed for a total of 9 HOF signatures along with those of McNeil, Curry, Mosdell, St. Laurent, Gamble, Meger, McCormack, MacPherson, Masnick and Lowe. All signed in black ink, aside from Lach's pencil autograph, and the signatures remain in very good condition, plainly legible with many bold examples. The stick itself remains wonderfully clean, with a yellowish tinge from a coat of varnish.
